Surrealism in the works by Salvador Dalí is one of a very special kind. Striking like nightmares, they break in on an unprepared reality. That is both fascinating and disturbing. The painter doesn't place the surreal motifs, as usual, in a vast landscape, he lets the individual figures hover freely, which adds yet another notion of loss of reality to the scene. The single color parts seem to have been placed coincidentally, and yet, they create individual figurative scenes. The inexplicable becomes the theme and its interpretation is a game of associations.
