With the composition of the "Archaischen Figur" Willi Baumeister was occupied several times in 1921: In the oil painting of the same name (Beye/Baumeister 275) as well as in the two corresponding gouaches "Komposition in Braun, Grau und Weiß" and "Archaische Figur" (Ponert 81 and 82). [KP].
