They visited Spain, Italy, Sicily, Greece and Albania .. Most of the book is in fact devoted to a description of this part of their travels, and 10 of the 12 engravings are after drawings by Cockerell illustration sites in Epirus. This work is one of the major sources of informations about Ali Pasha. Hughes was a confirmed philhellene. He was one of the early members of the Philomuse Society" (Blackmer). - 2 der Radierungen sind Aquatinten von F. C. Lewis. - Unbeschnittenes Exemplar, Tafeln in späterem Kolorit. - Vereinz. leicht stockfl., 3 Bll. mit kl. Randläsuren, Titel und 2 Bll. mit hinterl. Randeinrissen. Kanten leicht berieben. Innen gutes Exemplar des seltenen Reiseberichtes über Sizilien, Griechenland und Albanien.
First edition, scarce. With 12 (11 colored) engr. plates, 3 (2 folding, 1 colored in outlines) engr. maps and plans. new half calf with 2 labels. - Untrimmed, plates later colored. Here and there foxing, 3 leaves with marginal defects, title and 3 leaves with backed tears. Edges rubbed. Altogether good copy.
