Two different types of sailing ships encounter on white crestwaves, the steamer under close reefed sails with drifty trail of smoke and the Antwerp sailing boat with red flag at top of the mast. Eventful and realistic marine scene by the painter from Königsberg, whose art was inspired by his great passion for sailing on the Baltic Sea. A member of the oldest German sailing club "Rhe" in Königsberg since 1879, he also went on numerous journeys in the Baltic and north Sea region.
