This work was the model for the lithograph in colors of the same title, released in 1967 in the Edition of the Galerie Wolfgang Ketterer, Munich (cf. Lutze 492).

The reduction of the human body to head and legs led to the ‘Kopffüßler‘ [Head Footer], one of the most renowned figures from Horst Antes‘ array of archaic figures, he said the following about himself and his work: "The individual figure is quite important to me, as I see myself confronted with it. I create something that I can actually communicate with". "I charge and discharge my figure with symbols, sentiments, as well as organic and historic features, I fill and empty it with references, gestures, thoughts, speculations, wishes and fears. I create an image, something like an allegory, partner, mirror." (translation of quote after: Horst Antes, Frühe und späte Arbeiten, Galerie Utermann, Dortmund 1989, unpag. p. 4). [KD].
