Gianpietro Carlesso was born in Bolzano in 1961. He studied at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Trient from1977-80 and completed his education at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino in 1984. On a Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Scholarship from the City of Duisburg he worked near the Krupp steelworks in Rheinhausen in 1989/90 in. In the following he had exhibitions in the Galerie 44, Düsseldorf, and the Galerie Sander, Darmstadt. After his return to Italy he began teaching sculpting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino.
