Mit prachtvollen, sehr fein gezeichneten Darstellungen verschiedener Rosensorten mit Blüten und Früchten. "The first great color-printed book of the twentieth century .. it still stands unrivalled, both as an account of the species and as a source of illustrations of wild roses" (M. Rix, Art of Botanist S. 215). - Stellenw. gleichmäßig minim. gebräunt, erste 4 Bll. gelockert, Titel und Innendeckel mit gestemp. Exlibris. Einbd. schwach lichtrandig, Kanten tls. etw. berieben. Insges. gutes und sauberes Exemplar.
Only edition of this great monography on roses, with 212 plates, of which 132 in fine chromolithography. Contemp. green half calf with gilt title and top edge gilt. - Partly even minor browning, first 4 leaves loosened, title and pastedown with ex-libris stamp. Binding slightly sunned, edges somewhat rubbed in places. Altogether well-preserved and clean copy.
