Our nice work was presumably made during a journey to Italy Walter Ophey did in spring 1910, the local lighting conditions hacve a strong impact on this painting. Light, lucent colors, appid with short and ppastose strokes of the brush, join to form a southern landscape with a viall ion the back. "Three overhappy months, the paintings become very light, the colors soaked up by the light, [..]." (translation of quote in: Günther Rehbein, Walter Ophey, Recklinghausen 1958, p. 11). [DB].
