Acta eruditorum. [Published by O. Mencke). 2 years of the series in 1 vol. With 26 partly folding copper plates. Leipzig, Gross and Gleditsch 1686-1687. Contemp. vellum with two labels in colors. Small 4to. 3 Bll., 630 [recte 620] pp., 6 ll; 4 ll, 705 [recte 703] pp., 4 ll.
Diesch 1. - Kirchner 1 - Ebert 70. - The Acta eruditorum was made like its French model Journal des Sçavans which was "the first scientific magazine in the German language region as of 1682" (cf. Carter/Muir p. 300), with contributions by scholars such as Leibniz. This year 1686 contains the Geometria recondita (pp. 292-299), Leibniz's first publication on integral calculus , in which the integral symbol appeared in print for the first time (Ravier 94-96, DSB VIII, 163). - Isolated staining.
