It always was of a special importance for Käthe Kollwitz to take care of the needs of the socially disadvantaged. She expressed this concern in her graphic work. “Gefangene, Musik hörend“ (Prisoners, Listening to Music), is one of those works in which Kollwitz clearly points out to the prisoners‘ deficits in social care, so that they, even though they are imprisoned, do not entirely loose touch with society.
