Bindings. - Armorial bindings Louis XV. Auburn 18th century morocco binding on five raised bands with rich gilt tooling á la fanfare: back sections each with ornamental, geometrical composition and small fleur-de-lys stamp in centre field, cover with floral border, the center field with interlacings with speckled leaves and buds, with the armorial centerpiece of Louis XV. (cf. Olivier/Hermal 2495, fers 31), flanked above and below by an interlaced double-L monogram (Olivier/H. 2495, fers 31); as well as inside gilt borders, marbled endpapers and gilt edges. 8vo.

XXIIIa. - Splendid, lavishly decorated armorial binding for King Louis XV. - Edges slightly rubbed, 1 lower corner bumped, else well-preserved. - Contains: L'office de la semaine-sainte, à l'usage de la maison du roy. Conformement aux breviaires & messels Romains & Parisien. En Latin & en François. Avec l'explication des cérémonies de l'eglise .. par l'Abbé de Bellegarde. Nouvelle edition. With engr. frontispiece, engr. title and 5 engr. subheadings after Humblot. Paris, J. Collombat 1741. - Cohen/Ricci col. 761 (mentions, among others, a copy in armorial binding for Louis XV.).
Beautiful binding à la fanfare for Louis XV, lavishly gilt tooled on spine and boards, with inside gilt border and gilt edges, each cover with armorial centrepiece of the French king (Olivier/Hermal 2495, fers 9) and monogram (Olivier/H. 2495, fers 31). Size 22 : 14,5 cm. - Edges sligthly rubbed, 1 lower corner bumped. Else well preserved. - Contains: L'office de la semaine-sainte. With engr. frontispiece, engr. title and 5 engr. sub-titles after Humblot. Paris 1741.
