Shirley 157. - Koeman 0001:1 A. - Aus einer französischen Ausgabe von Hondius. - Die schöne Weltkarte von G. Mercator zeigt die Welt in zwei Hemisphären umgeben von Beschlagwerkornamenten, in den Zwickeln mit kl. kolor. Armillarsphäre und kolor. Windrose. "A model of clarity and neatness." (Sh.) - Im Titelfeld oberhalb der Darstellung die ab 1620 deutlicher hervortretenden Plattenrisse. - Gebräunt. Mehrere Papierbrüche durch Farboxidation sowie Einrisse in der Mittelfalte sorgfältig restauriert. Alt angerändert, im Rand stellenw. stockfleckig, unten mit Wasserrand. Unter Passepartout und Glas gerahmt.
Title with splits of plate becoming more visible from 1620 onwards. - Browned. Some oxidation with cracking of paper and some tears in centrefold skillfully restaured. Remargined, partly with some marginal foxing and waterstains. Matted and framed.
