Tom Wesselmann belongs to one of the imporant co-founders of the american pop art. Our silkscreen in colours 'Monica Nude with Cézanne' combines all essential elements of his artistic workings from earlier decades. Wesselmann assembles the stereotypical image of the nude, developed in his large-sized paintings 'Great American Nudes' and his interest for modern artists, in particular for Paul Cézanne. Like a reminiscene is Cézanne's still life painting translated in the decoratif language of the pop art.
This silksceen is a work after the so called '3-D metall work' from 1992, where Wesselmann transfers his drawings to cut-out aluminium and produces in this way the typical coloured outlines of these spacial objects and later graphics.
