ADB V, 585. - Nicht in den Reisebibliographien. - Zweite Ausgabe, die Erstausgabe erschien im Jahr zuvor. - Seltene Reisebeschreibung des Frankfurter Rechtsgelehrten Adam Ebert (1653-1735). - Ebert erwarb auf seinen Reisen verschiedene "in hoher Schreibart" (Jöcher) abgefaßte Bücher, die er teilweise übersetzte und der königlichen Bibliothek zu Berlin stiftete. - Enthält u. a. Beschreibungen von Bordeaux, Lyon, der Provence, dem Languedoc, Katalonien, Rom, Neapel, Palermo, Capri, Messina, Syrakus, Salerno, dem Vesuv und Ätna etc. - "Ebert visited England in the summer of 1678. Like the other learned travellers we have been considering, his main interest was in the bookshops and libraries and in the contacts he was able to make with English scholars and men of learning. Among these were John Wallis, the mathematician; Stillingfleet, then Dean of St. Paul's; Edward Browne, physician and traveller and the eldest son of Sir Thomas Browne , 'who knew German'; and the Archbishop of Canterbury, William Sancroft, who questioned him about the Protestant Church in Germany. According to his own account he also visited Hobbes, now aged ninety, whom he interviewed at his lodgings 'in the house of a certain Robert Joyle, a maker of mathematical instruments ...
