• Between 1964 and 1968, Wintersberger was a member of the legendary Berlin exhibition collective and artists' gallery “Großgörschen 35”, which showed works by, among others, Markus Lüpertz, K. H. Hödicke and Bernd Koberling.
• With their new figurative art, Wintersberger and his fellow artists revolted against the then prevailing informal painting and had a decisive influence on West German art until the 1980s.

• In 2015, Wintersberger's work was part of the major exhibition “German Pop” at the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt am Main
.
