Lower left monogrammed and dated. On watercolor paper, laminated on a cardboard backing. 18.5 x 25.7 cm (7.2 x 10.1 in), size of sheet. [JS].
• From a series of extremely atmospheric, small-format landscape watercolors in which Dix captured the changing times of day and seasons of his home on Lake Constance since the early 1950s.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany (presumably directly from the artist).
Private collection Hessen (obtained from the above in 2009).
LITERATURE: Suse Pfäffle, Otto Dix. Werkverzeichnis der Aquarelle und Gouachen, Stuttgart 1991, no. A 1950/5 (illustrated in black and white).
The image is in good condition. Adhesive spots and paper adhesions in the margins due to previous mounting. Laminated on backing cardboard.
