• Maetzel-Johannsen was co-founder of the Hamburg Secession and an importnat female protagonist of Expressionism.
• A rare still life from her early creative days.
• The genre of the still life was her most important field of experimentation and decisive for her development towards modernity.
• The long due rediscovery and recognition of her creation began with the exhibitions "Einfühlung und Abstraktion. Die Moderne der Frauen in Deutschland" n 2016 and "Ein Künstlerpaar der Moderne: Emil Maetzel und Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen" in 2019.
