Ebner/Gabelmann 920 L. Dube L 331. Signed, dated and inscribed "Der Holzschnitzer" and "Probe". Copy asidde from the edition of 29. On firm off-white wove paper. 29.9 x 30.2 cm (11.7 x 11.8 in). Sheet: 49,7 x 42,7 cm (19,6 x 16,8 in).

• Portraits play an important role in Heckel's prints of the 1940s.
• The work shows Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880–1938) carving a sculpture.
• The time this lithograph was made, Heckel also made print portraits of Otto Dix and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.
