Signed, dated and titled. From an edition of 5 known copies. On creme laid paper. 33.7 x 23 cm (13.2 x 9 in). Sheet: 54 x 29,8 cm (21,2 x 11,7 in).
• Rarity. The only copy of a total of five known prints still in private ownership.
• The other four copies are in the collections of the Brücke-Museum Berlin, the Museum Folkwang, Essen, the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Karlsruhe, and in the estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen.
• High-contrast, deep black print with wide margins.
• The motif is based on drawings Heckel made during his trip to Italy in the spring of 1909.
PROVENANCE: Hermann Gerlinger Collection, Würzburg (with the collector's stamp Lugt 6032).
