• From the 1947 series of portraits of former "Brücke" members.
• Erich Heckel depicted his artist friend in front of a background typical of Kirchner.
• Other copies are in the artist's estate in Hemmenhofen, and at the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Karlsruhe.
PROVENANCE: Hermann Gerlinger Collection, Würzburg (with the collector's stamp on the reverse, Lugt 6032).
