Lower right signed and dated. On off-white watercolor paper. 17.8 x 25.5 cm (7 x 10 in), size of sheet. [JS].
• Atmopsheric small landscape characterized by the turbulence of a gathering storm.
• From a series of small watercolors from the early 1950s in which Dix captured the seasons on Lake Constance with great mastery.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany (presumably directly from the artist).
Private collection Hesse (from the above in 2009).
LITERATURE: Suse Pfäffle, Otto Dix. Werkverzeichnis der Aquarelle und Gouachen, Stuttgart 1991, no. A 1955/17 (fig.).
In good condition. Edges slightly irregular from technique, corners with tiny pinholes from the making.
