Lower right monogrammed and dated. Lower margin and verso inscribed "Juni". On watercolor paper. 22.7 x 28.5 cm (8.9 x 11.2 in), size of sheet. [JS].
• Atmospheric, small landscape of Lake Constance, which carries the colors of summer in a compressed, moving form.
• From a series of small-format watercolors in which Dix has masterfully captured the seasons on Lake Constance with their different color and light moods since the early 1950s.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany (presumably directly from the artist).
Private collection Hesse (from the above in 2009).
LITERATURE: Suse Pfäffle, Otto Dix. Werkverzeichnis der Aquarelle und Gouachen, Stuttgart 1991, no. A 1953/23 (illustrated in black and white).
In good condition. Evenly browned..
