Verso signed, dated and titled in two languages, as well as inscribed with dimensions and technique. On firm paper. 39.5 x 31.9 cm (15.5 x 12.5 in), the full sheet. [CH].
• Numerous important artists such as Aelbrecht Bouts (1452-1549), Frans Hals (1582/3-1666), Andy Warhol (1928-1987) and Robert Mapplethorpe (1946-1989) have already dedicated themselves to the traditional subject of the self-portrait with a skull and crossbones.
• With the portrayal of a skull, Yan Pei-Ming shows the subject in its most extreme form and transports it into the 21st century
• For several years, the artist has been represented by the renowned Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in Paris
• His works are part of important collections, including those of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Center Pompidou, the Musée d'Art Moderne, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris and the Museum Ludwig in Cologne.
