A letter from Feininger to his friends, the artist family Koehler, dated February 22, 1953. [SM].
• Feininger‘s "Ghosties" were neither exhibited nor sold, they were solely intended as presents
• Contemporary docuemnt from the everyday life of the artist and his wife
• Wilhelm Koehler was director of the Stae Art Collections Weimar and had been married to the Bauhaus student Margarete Bittkow since 1920 before they emigrated to the USA in 1934.
Achim Moeller, director of the Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York – Berlin, has confirmed this work's authenticity. It is registered at the archive of the Lyonel Feininger Project with the number 1657-06-08-20.
