Adams E 444. - Van der Haeghen, Adagia pp. 196f. - Bezzel 101. - Renouard p. 236, 12. - Not in BM STC. - Adagia edition, published by Paulus Manutius, after Renouard presumably printed by Aldus Manutius the younger. - Reprint of the edition from 1578, by Jérôme Polo in Venice, which is based on the great Guinta edition from 1575. - Minor stains in places, with slight worming at the beginning and towards the end, fine marginalia in pencil, endpaper with entries by an early hand. Binding stained and somewhat wormed, corners of rear board defective, clasps removed. Ex-libris.
Third edition by Manutius. With woodcut printer's device. Contemp. pigskin over wooden boards, richly blind- and rollstamped and with panels (allegories). - Partly minor staining, at beginning and end slight worming, neat marginalia in pencil, front endpaper with inscription. Binding stained and somewhat wormy, corners of rear board damaged, clasps removed. Ex-libris.
