• With a provenance that goes back to the 1920s.
• From the William Landmann Collection (1891-1987), Canada.
• In 1905, the artist spent the summer in a rural area on the Stafelalm.
• Groundbreaking motif: Franz Marc's abstract animal motif from the subsequent years of the "Blaue Reiter" (1911-1914) are icons of German Expressionism.
• The animal depictions make for the most important group of motifs within his artistic work.
• Comparable drawings from these early years can be found at, among others, the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the State Graphic Collection in Munich, the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt and the Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See
