Eines der Hauptwerke des bedeutenden Humanisten, zugleich die erste in deutscher Sprache verfaßte Kosmographie.
Zweiter Druck der zweiten Ausgabe, die erste Ausgabe erschien 1534. - Mit einem umfangreichen Kapitel über Amerika (Bll. CCXI-CCXXXVII), u. a. über die Reisen von Columbus, Vespucci und Cortes.
EINBAND: Pergamentband der Zeit mit handschriftlichem Rückentitel. Quarto. 30,5 : 21 cm. - KOLLATION: 234 (st. 236) röm. num. Bll., 7 (st. 8) Bll. - ZUSTAND: Fehlen zu Beginn 5 Bll. Vorrede an den Leser, die Textbll. XLV + XLVI sowie das w. Blatt vor dem Register. Stellenw. leicht fleckig, vord. fliegendes Vorsatzbl. entfernt, Titelbl. nahezu gelöst, die folgenden ca. 8 Bll. in der unteren Ecke mit Knickspur. Einbd. etw. fleckig. Insgesamt sauberes Exemplar.

Second print of the second edition. One of Franck's main works, first published in 1534 and the first cosmography printed in German language. With a comprehensive chapter on America dealing wiith the voyages of Columbus, Vespucci and Cortes. Contemp. vellum with ms. title on spine. - Lacking the foreword to the reader as well as 2 text leaves and the last blank before the index. Partly slightly stained, front flying endpaper lacking, title page nearly detached, the following 8 leaves with slight crease to corner. Binding somewhat stained. Overall still clean copy.
