• In 1909, the artist spent his honeymoon in Nieuwpoort and returned to the Belgian seaside resort again the following year.
• Using broad impasto brushstrokes and a solid central perspective, Brockhusen captured an atmospheric maritime scene.
• From 1905, Theo von Brockhusen was a member of the Berlin Secession, and in 1914, he joined the Free Secession, of which he became president in 1918.
• Between 1906 and 1915, he was represented by the legendary art dealer Paul Cassirer.
• In the year of its creation, Brockhusen received the Art Prize of the City of Berlin, and he was awarded the renowned Villa Romana Prize in 1912
