In 1965, Fritz Koenig "took up the motif of the carrier figure in the Caryatids [..], which had already been touched on in the 'Gerahmte Figuren' and the 'Votiven.' They do not have a structural context and are not shaped according to traditional models but rather illustrate the theme of carrying, burdening, and being pressed in an abstract formulation. Twisted, proliferating forms appear - in place of the figure in the 'Votives' - between strict cubic forms, now marking the zones of radiation of force, changes of force and direction." (quoted from: Peter-Klaus Schuster, Fritz Koenig. Skulptur und Zeichnung, Munich/Berlin 1988/89, pp. 16f.)
