* 1931 Berlin
Martin Mayer was born in Berlin on 16 January 1931. Aged 15 he already became the private student of Theodor Georgii in Munich. From 1949 to 1954 Mayer studied under Georgii. The human image was Mayer's central issue and he developed his personal handwriting for this reason. Mayer created many busts, countless graphics and about 30 bronzes for the public. "The Jacobs Pilgrims" in Speyer, "the Franziskus als Friedensbote" in Munich or "Olympia Triumphans" a female act in the Olympic Park of Munich were some of his most significant works. By remaining loyal to his handwriting and his issue female images are still the center of his work.
