Übersetzt nach der Vulgata von dem späteren Bischof von Segovia, Felipe Scio de San Miguel, laut Titel "Ex-Provincial de las Escuelas Pias, Preceptor des Principe nuestro Señor y de los Señores Infantes, y confesor de la princesa del Brasil Infanta de España". - Zweispaltiger Paralleldruck in Latein und Spanisch, unterhalb mit Anmerkungen und Verweisen. Das Alte Testment umfaßt 8 Bde., das Neue Testament 2 Bde. (mit dem Frontspiz). - "Primera traducción castellana de la Biblia Vulgata .. Esta primera edición es magnífica , y su correción honra a las prensas valencianas." (Palau) - Leicht stockfleckig, tlw. gleichmäßig gebräunt, 1 Titelbl., das Frontispiz und 2 Textbll. mit kleiner Fehlstelle im Rand (tlw. durch Wurmspuren). Einbde. unterschiedlich beschabt, Rücken überwieg. unten mit kl. Wurmlöchern, 1 Rücken dort mit Fehlstelle im Bezug. Noch ordentliches, breitrandiges Exemplar auf kräftigem Papier und in dekorativen zeitgenössischen Einbänden.

10 vols. First edition of this rare Spanish Bible, the first printed in Spain. Fine printing in parallel columns in Latin and Spanish, with notes and references below. With engr. frontispiece and 10 engr. headpieces. Contemp. mottled calf with gilt decoration and 3 labels on spines, boards with gilt border. - Slightly foxed, partly evenly tanned, 1 title page, frontisp. and 2 text leaves with small hole (partly caused by worming). Bindings scraped in places, nearly all spines with small wormholes at the bottom, one spine with loss of matter. In general good copy on strong paper with wide margins in decorative bindings.
