In the remoteness of Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance, where Otto Dix lived as of 1936, the painter turned to a style geared at Realism, also under the pressure of the political conditions. He found themes for his works in the landscape he was surrounded by. In this later period of creation he made remarkable paintings and drawings characterized by his love for the landscape. The ingenious drawer that Otto Dix had always been shows his talent in this work, too. Lines are short and energetic, the coloring is harmonious. In his later works Dix remained the advocate of a talent he was able to maintain up to the end of his life.
