Sheet 42 from the series "Suite Vollard". Printed by Roger Lacourière, Paris 1939. Published by Edition Vollard.

The hundred etchings of the "Suite Vollard", that Picasso made in 1930-37, are among the most important contributions of modern graphic art in the first half of the 20th century. In this classic period Picasso created an unmatched masterpiece of continuity. The clear line that characterizes this graphic cycle drove the artist to the brim of perfection. Selling the suite was so difficult, that today just a few complete copies are in existence. The individual sheets are much sought-after, especially the signed ones. [KD]
