Die Collectanea bilden eine Fortsetzung zu Jacquins Icones plantarum rariorum (1781ff.), die Tafeln gehören zu den schönsten des "Goldenen Zeitalters" der Wiener naturwissenschaftlichen Buchillustration. "The Collectanea provided a medium for Jacquin and his students to publish a miscellany of papers on natural history subjects, the majority botanical, accompagnied by good illustrations." (De Belder) - Hier erst ab Bd. II mit dem in einigen Bibliographien als Haupttitel verzeichneten Collectanea ad botanicam, chemiam et historiam naturalem . - Tafeln nur vereinz. gering stockfleckig, mit zeitgenöss. hs. Bildunterschrift, 2 Tafeln gelockert, 1 Tafel knapp beschnitten, Text tlw. gebräunt oder leicht stockfleckig, Vorsätze in den Ecken leimschattig. Kanten und Ecken berieben. Schönes und sauberes Exemplar in dekorativen zeitgenöss. Einbänden.

First edition. With 106 (98 col.) engr. plates. Contemp. half calf with some gilt decoration on spine. - With captures in a neat contemp. hand. Plates only here and there slightly foxed, 2 plates loosened, 1 plate cropped close, text partly somewhat browned and partly slightly foxed, endpapers gluestained in the corners. Edges and corners somewhat rubbed. Beautiful and clean copy in nice contemp. bindings.
