Manuskripte. - Erbauungsbücher. - Dutch manuscript on paper, late 17th century. 353 ll. with writing and 40 copper plates by Abr. van Merlen (6), C. de Mallery (13), D. Tenier, C. Galle, M. Snyders et al. Size of sheets ca. 15,5 : 19,7 cm, 24-25 lines, black brown ink. - Contemp. blindtooled calf over wooden boards.

Presumably originating in Antwerps, very neatly written book of edifiocation. The coppers show various saints (among them Saint Hubertus), martyrdoms, annunciation, the three Magi, circumcision, flagellation and resurrection of Christ, the outpouring of the Holy Ghost etc. - The nice coppers were made by the Antwerpen engravers and publishers Abraham van Merlen (1579-1660), Karel van Mallery (1571-1635), Theodor (1571-1633) and Cornelis (1576-1650) Galle, David Tenier (1582-1649), Michael Snyders (1588-1633) et al. - Ms. pagination jumps from l. 250 to 252, however, not affecting the text, 2 ll. (numb. 164) each with letters only on one side. - Calf covering with splits and defective spots in places, almost coming off on edges, rear wooden board missing.
