Album amicorum. - Stammbuch "Zur Rückerinnerung an gute Freunde" von Joh. Christoph Heinr. Germann. With 7 India ink drawings in colors and and 1 colored engraving. Wittenberg, Dresden, Eilenburg, Pegau et al. 1791 to 1833. 148 ll. with 175 entries (partly in Latin). Smoothed brown contemp. calf with gilt tooling on spine and boards as well as gilt-tooled monogram with date on borders and gilt edges.

Fine Saxonian Stammbuch with lavishly executed illustrations. - Joh. Christoph Heinr. Germann, presumably a jurist himself, gathered entries not only from his family, but also from his friends and colleagues from the Wittenberg academy (closed in 1813) and other Central German Universities, among them Georg Stephan Wiesand (jurist, professor in Wittenberg, 1736-1821), August Cornelius Stockmann (jurist, poet, professor in Leipzig, 1751-1821), Joh. Matthias Schröckh (historian, \tab literary scientist, professor in Wittenberg and Leipzig, 1733-1808), Christian August Lobeck (classic philologist, student at the university of Leipzig in 1797 at the time of the entry, 1781-1860), Joh. Christoph Schreiter (theologian, archdeacon in Schleusingen, professor in Kiel, 1770-1821) etc. - The nice, partly artistic and fullpage drawings show a landscape view (in red), a manson as well as floral and allegoric motifs, the copper shows a city view. - Binding slightly scraped. Fine copy.
