Early and influential examples of macaronic poetry, with the Folengo mimicing the new Latin poets and their epigonal manner. The nice woodcuts with illustartions of the individual scenes. - With a rare contemp. transcription of the macaronic poemm Dictamen Metrificum de bello Huguenoturum et Reistrorum by the renaissance poet Remy Belleau (1527-77) bound in at the end. Comprising a total of 220 lines on 5 pp., written in a small but clean and legible writing. - Here and there slightly stained, margins of last ll. softened by damp. Corners bumped, joints partly brittle, spine restored in places.
Scarce Venice edition of this early and important example of macaronic epics. With 26 full-page woodcuts in text and woodcut printer's device on title. Bound in at end a rare contemp. manuscript of the macaronic poem "Dictamen Metrificum de bello Huguenoturumon" by the French poet Remy Belleau. Contains 5 pp. with 220 lines written in a tiny contemp. hand. Contemp. blindpressed calf. - Here and there minor staining, last leaves with marginal traces by damp. Edges bumped, joints partly brittle, spine repaired in places.
