After serving an apprenticeship followed by studies at the Royal Art School for the Textile Industry in Plauen, Otto Müller-Eibenstock worked there as an assistant but was employed as a designer at a textile company from 1920. Over the course of lengthy stays in Berlin, Müller-Eibenstock came into contact with Herwarth Walden and his “Sturm” gallery. Following a 1923 Bauhaus exhibition in Weimar, Müller-Eibenstock embarked on an intensive investigation of geometric abstract art and showed work for the first time at the great 1926 Berlin art exhibition. Our Constructivist drawing in delicate colours is an early work. [NB]
