Eine in den Bibliographien genannte Ausgabe des ersten Teils von 1611 ist in den Bibliotheken des KVK nicht nachzuweisen. Die niederländische Originalausgabe erschien 1614 ebenfalls in Franeker. - Enthält eine ausführl. Anweisung zum Gebrauch von Himmels- und Erdgloben, Sonnenuhren und anderen astronomischen Instrumenten sowie Anleitung zur Benutzung versch. Meßinstrumente, darunter auch ein Astrolabium. Das Werk über Navigation enthält auch eine Anleitung zur Herstellung von Seekarten. - Adriaen Metius (1571-1635) war Professor für Mathematik, Vermessungswesen, Navigation, Militärwissenschaft und Astronomie in Franeker. Zu seinen Lehrern zählen u. a. Rudolf Snellius, Van Ceulen sowie Tycho Brahe, in dessen Observatorium auf der Insel Hven er - wie sein Landsmann Blaeu - zeitweise tätig war. "He bought mathematical and astronomical instruments, observed sunspots, and showed familiarity with the telescope, of which his brother Jacob was a coinventor. He especially appreciated its use for measuring instruments ... Adriaen was a popular and efficient teacher who stressed the training of Frisian surveyors. His lectures were well attended by an international audience including, in 1629, Descartes" (DSB). - Titel gering fleckig und mit gelöschtem Stempel. Deckel geworfen. Wohl erhaltenes Exemplar.
First Latin edition of this rare work by the Dutch mathematician and astronomer Adriaen Metius. 2 pts. in 1 vol. With woodcut printer's device on both titles and numerous woodcuts in text. Mod. vellum. - Title slightly soiled and with erased libr. stamp. Binding bowed. Well preserved copy.
