Holzschnitte von alter Hand im weißen Rand numeriert. Kopfsteg eng beschnitten (Kolumnentitel meist angeschnitten); vereinz. mit kl. Wurmspur im Bundsteg. Insgesamt gut erhaltene Exemplare in einem bemerkenswerten Lyoneser Wappeneinband (Olivier/Hermal 476.2).
Nice Sammelband with 4 important emblematical books, among them de Tournes' first edition of Alciatus' "Emblematum liber" with Salomon's splendid illustrations in fine impressions. Light brown calf with rich gilt spine, red label and gilt armorial centrepieces of Claude-Marc Pérachon (Olivier/Hermal 476.2). Contains I: 113 emblemat. woodcuts by B. Salomon and 2 woodcut printer's devices (chimera and prism, the first used only in this book; cf. Cartier I, p. 46). - II: Arabesque woodcut titleborder and the same series of Salomon as stated above. Lacking 2 blanks at end (1 with vign.).- III: Second Latin edition with 105 emblemat. woodcuts and woodcut printer's device (Perseus). - IV: Second French edition with the same woodcuts as the precedent work. Lacking pp. 31/32 incl. 2 illustrations. - Woodcuts numbered by old hand (in the white margin), upper margin cropped close, column title partly with loss of printed matter; here and there small trace of worming to inner margin. Else well preserved copy in a decorative armorial binding.
