"Following a pattern established by Paradies, Doppelmayr traced the paths of various comets ... D.'s choice and style of constellations and his avoidance of Bayer letters on all his maps are derived from Hevelius ... The positions of the stars on the maps are correct for the year 1730." (Warner) - Mit Titel in Schriftleiste, die Darstellungen der Sternzeichen jew. beidseitig eingerahmt von Legende, kolor. in typ. Flächenkolorit. - Sämtl. Bll. im unteren Bereich der Mittelfalte mit wenigen kl. Wurmspuren. Mittelfalte überwieg. gering gebräunt. 1 Bl. gebräunt und mit minim. Läsuren im rechten Rand, dort 1 hinterl. Einriß. 1 Bl. mit Fleck im linken und rechten Rand, Kartenbild nicht betroffen, und mit leichten Knitterspuren entlang der Mittelfalte. - Insges. gut erhalten.
Complete set of the decorative Doppelmayr celestial charts. - All sheets with small traces of worming in the bottom of the centrefold. Slight browning in centrefolds of nearly all sheets. 1 slightly browned map with minim. defects and 1 backed tear in the right margin. 1 map with two spots in the left and right margin and with creases near the centrefold. - Overall well-preserved copies.
