• Bright, free and powerful composition, in which Peiffer Watenphul conveys the liveliness of the blossoms and the grass, as well as the intensity of the colors and the light, into pure painting.
• After the depressing war years and the artistic insecurities, a newly attained lust for life found particular expression in the pure flower still lifes of the 1950s.
• As of 1946 Peiffer Watenphul lived in Venice and finally returned to his studio in Salzburg in 1951.
• His late work is characterized by new beginning and creative dynamics: In 1952 he joined the re-established 'Deutsche Künstlerbund', in 1952 he had an exhibition at the Museum Folkwang, Essen, in 1953 he visited Paris where he met the gallerist Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler and in 1956 he settled in Rome for good.
• His works are in renowned collections, among them the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main, the Bavarian State Painting Collections, Munich, and the Museum Folkwang, Essen
