Ohne Titel (Stillleben / Abstrakte Komposition). 1916/1924.
Oil on canvas.
Droste M 34 and M 93. Still life signed in bottom right. Visible area, each 69 x 51.5 cm (27.1 x 20.2 in).

• Georg Muche often used the reverse side of earlier works for new pictures.
• Here he joined two canvasses so that the reverse sides are visible in both cases.
• Muche shows us documents from two creative periods in one.
• He made his first abstract works as early as in 1913 and attained his very own abstract style around 1915. As of 1920 he made several stil llifes like this one here, partly in an unusual impasto manner
.

We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Magdalena Droste for her kind support in cataloging this lot.
