The artist had her first solo show at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. In the 1970s Mary Bauermeister spent a lot of time in New York where she was part of the circle around Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Niki de Saint Phalle.
Works by Mary Bauermeister are at, among others, the Museum Schwerin and the Museum Ludwig, Cologne.
