Rudloff 748. Plinth with artist's signet. Rear of plinth with number and foundry mark "Guss Barth Berlin". From an edition of 6 casts. Height: 142.5 cm (56.1 in).

LITERATURE: Sotheby Parke-Bernet, New York, auction April 4, 1968, lot 172.

The motif of the standing nude is recurrent in Marck's oeuvre of sculptures. The classic proportions in the artist's characteristic archaic style become more obvious in this work than it is the case with most of his other accomplishments. The young girl's gracile posture in combination with the tender contour lines and the chatoyant surface structure make for the special appeal that this bronze emanates.
