The skilful mastery that Edward Cucuel applies to ever new variations of similar motifs is characteristic of the artist‘s entire artistic creation. Themes resemble, elegant and lascivious beauties, skilfully rendered by Cucuel in gentle light, their carelessness expresses a kind of simplicity of existence, the volitional escapism epitomizes a hedonistic environment. Cucuel knows how to let his color values shine. The female figure, often depicted in a slightly slanted position, allows the observer to enter a scene he would love to linger in. It is a very noble counterworld that contributed to Cucuel‘s early renown.
