Based on the installation "The Consummate Mask of Rock", first shown at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York in September 1975, Bruce Nauman asks the question of 'how an artist presents himself ?'. This way he tries to reveal the tension between the hidden and the obvious aspects of an artwork. Through his art Bruce Nauman demands an ever increased consciousness of the self and the situation, both for himself and the observer.
