In 1902 Munch used the motif of a hearse crossing the bustling Potsdam Square not only for this etching but also for two very similar paintings, of which one shows the motif in reverse impression. Both paintings are in possessin of the Munch Museum in Oslo today (cf. inv. no. Munch-museet M 736 and M 485).
