This sheet by Ernst Wilhelm Nay is part of the series of the so-called "Scheibenbilder" "Disc Pictures", made between the mid 1950s and the early 1960s. "The success of this new form of art, which Nay also examined theoretically, is not only documented by the agravic disc pictures that were made with great artistic poise [.], but also by the artists's general success, that may have contributed to the fact that this work period eventually turned out to be the longest in Nay's oeuvre."
