Sturm. 1920.
Woodcut.
Prasse W 194. Signed. Lower margin inscribed "2001" and "x". On fine hand-made laid paper. 11 x 17.1 cm (4.3 x 6.7 in). Sheet: 20,1 x 28,5 cm (7,9 x 11,2 in).
According to Achim Moeller, the hand-written inscription "x" in the lower corner suggests that Feininger made this proof for his archive. When he emigrated to New York in 1937 as a reaction to the Nazi's defamation, he had to leave many his works behind. He gave them to Dr. Hermann Klumpp. Only 70 years later this collection was given back to Feininger's descendants. [CB].

With a photo expertise by Achim Moeller, The Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York, from 7 January, 2013. The work is registered in the Lyonel Feininger Archive under the number 1184-01-07-13.

PROVENANCE: Galerie Achim Moeller, New York/Berlin (with a label on rear of frame).
